OUR SYDNEY WEEKENDER
WELCOME
Just over one hour’s drive from Sydney, Casa Del Rio is located in the beachside suburb of Copacabana on the central coast of New South Wales. It is the perfect location to go for a short city escape or to relax and enjoy a longer getaway without an extended drive.
Now named after the more cosmopolitan beach in Brazil, Copacabana was originally called “Tudibaring”, where the waves pound like a beating heart. The magic of Copa continues today, with a beautiful clean beach and a cool coastal vibe that echoes those carefree holidays of the 1970’s. Less busy than its neighbour Avoca, it still has all the amenities; cafes, small supermarket, chemist and a patrolled beach that make it the perfect place to relax and unwind.
Our holiday home, Casa del Rio was one of the first houses built down by the beach in 1970. Across the road from the flags and a short walk to cafes and restaurants, you will have no need to drive anywhere. We have retained the home’s original charm but given it a cool coastal update. Beautifully decorated spaces are complemented by a home stocked with the essentials for a short getaway. Unlike other holiday homes, we provide all sheets, towels (beach and bath), basic toiletries and kitchen essentials, together with sunblock, beach toys and games. Step inside, relax and unwind – a seaside haven awaits.
We would love to welcome you to Casa del Rio, Copacabana.
THINGS TO DO
EXPLORE
There is plenty to do in Copa. From walks along the beach and swimming in the sea, to enjoying the local cafes and markets.

Beach walks, a trip up to Captain Cook Lookout (perhaps needing a rename!), swimming, surfing, boogie boarding, kayaking or canoeing in the lagoon. Please be aware that the surf can at times be treacherous so it is a good idea to follow the advice of the lifesavers as conditions are extremely variable. From August to October each year, you might be lucky enough to see the migrating humpback and right whales in the bay. There are also lots of beautiful walks through the Bouddi National Park. We particularly enjoy the walk to Winnie Bay and snorkelling at Maitland Bay.
There is a small supermarket in Copa for basics but you should find any groceries you need in nearby Kincumber or Aldi at Green Point.
There are a few restaurants and cafes to choose from. Here are a few of our favourites:-
Arties at the Surf Club
Opens at 7am and closes at 3pm. We love their coffee, bacon & egg rolls, and nourish bowl.
Burnt Honey
Artisan Bakery with great coffee. It is a sustainable business – so you’ll need to take the keep cups from the house.
Ocean Bar Cantina
Tapas bar, great for lunch and dinner. Occasionally live music. Book ahead.
Lady Copa Pizzeria
Night time venue, varies whether it takes bookings or does takeaway. Recommend the Italian Pizza and Burrata Salad.
Avoca Bowlo
Good, reasonably priced food at Tables restaurant, free courtesy bus to and from home if you book ahead.
TESTIMONIALS

WINDOWS
Please ensure windows are closed in the event of rain.

We would appreciate it if you please remove your shoes when inside the house.

The password is on the welcome sign
STOVE TOP
Is induction and only works when the pots or pans are placed on the burners. Note: If “LO” is illuminated, the stove just needs to be unlocked.

You will need to turn on the water and power to use the machine. Please make sure they are both turned off after use.

THE HOUSE - EXTERNAL
OUTDOOR LOUNGE
When you arrive, you can remove the cover and store behind the lounge. Please ensure the cover is placed over the lounge during heavy rain and also when you depart.
GAS BARBEQUE
Feel free to use. Note the yellow ties to keep the cover on in the wind and that it uses bottled gas.
BINS
To be put out Sunday nights – every week the red bin and alternating weeks the green or yellow bin (best to look at what the neighbours are doing).
OUTDOOR SHOWER
You’ll need to connect the hose that hangs on the left hand side of the shed to the tap near the side gate, then simply drape the hose over the fence and connect it to the shower head that is fastened to the fence in the front yard. The wooden mat is usually stored in the shed.
WATER ACTIVITIES
In the back of the garden, you’ll find boogie boards, beach chairs and umbrellas that you are welcome to use either at the beach or in the lagoon.
Please bring your own life jackets if needed.
POWER
INTERNAL FUSE BOX
The internal fuse box is behind the large white circular mirror under the stairs by the back door.
EXTERNAL FUSE BOX
Copa occasionally has power cuts. If it looks like the power is only out in our house, then there is a second fuse box outside on the side wall closest to our neighbours.
Have a fabulous stay!!
